Massey Community Trust (MCT) was established in 2003 as a grassroots, community‑led response to the challenges facing whānau in Massey. From the beginning, our focus has been on strengthening the overall hauora of our community through practical support, relational care, and innovative local solutions.
Our vision is to develop a community of care—a network of people, places, and programmes that respond collectively and compassionately when help is needed. We work to break down barriers of isolation and fear, foster strong relationships between whānau and their wider community, and create safe environments where people can address the impacts of poverty, homelessness, violence, addiction, and mental health struggles.
Today, our mahi spans a range of interconnected initiatives that meet people where they are and walk alongside them toward stability, belonging, and improved wellbeing. These include:
- The Safety Net Project – A host‑home initiative providing safe, supportive, and immediate accommodation for young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, ensuring youth homelessness is brief, rare, and non‑recurring.
- Celebrate Recovery – A 12‑step programme supporting people to navigate life’s challenges.
- Free community activities – Exercise classes, Mainly Music, monthly community dinners, and Revive, a weekly group offering Waiata, Art, Cooking, Games, and Dance.
- Community Kōrero Events – Training and development for host homes and the wider community to better support rangatahi.
- Youth programmes – Monthly youth socials and free weekly youth hangouts offering sports, games, crafts, and kai, creating places of connection, belonging, and support for tamariki and rangatahi.
Across all our work, our purpose remains the same: to empower our community to thrive, together.
